Learn to Play Guitar using Fretboard Notes and Charts

The guitar, one of the most popular instruments to play, is always featured in bands and is one of the most fascinating instruments for expressing creativity. Once you really understand and have mastered playing fretboard notes will you begin to explore the many different ways of blending music. The heart and soul of many bands are in the hands of their guitar players.

When you see an experienced talented guitar player and watch how easy he/she appears to be playing you may wonder …. Do I dare dream to play like that? Yes, if that is your true desire!

The first order of business will be learning how to play notes on the fretboard. Learning hand and finger positions is where beginners start and building finger strength and flexibility is the first order of learning. Learning fretboard notes is an essential part of learning to play the guitar, and understanding the fretboard charts will allow you to move beyond playing open chords.

Professional Instructions

There are many options available to learn how to read, understand and play notes on the fretboard. If your goal is to have lasting results, my recommendation is to invest in private lessons with a professional instructor. Your instructor will help you learn and understand the importance of what you are learning and teach you how to get the best out of each practice by sharing additional information they have learned over the years. This additional advice will help you better understand the concepts being presented and add value to your learning sessions.

You will want to give some thought to the learning environment and experience of the instructor. Do you feel you will be able to learn and excel under their instructions? Try to match your learning style with their teaching style to get the best results. Select your instructor with your music goals in mind and make sure they understand what level you would like to reach.

You may start by learning the fretboard chart and how to position your fingers according to the chart. You are required to memorize the charts, finger positions and beats to play the proper notes. After gaining experience you will be able to see the chart in your mind as your fingers glide across the fretboard. This basic step will require a lot of practice to learn finger control and proper note sounds before you can progress to the next stage of learning to play guitar.

When you understand and have mastered playing the proper notes with the guitar you will be amazed at how simple playing the guitar really is. You will be able to change sounds, create new sounds, and enhance any songs by simply moving your fingers along the fretboard.

You can share your excitement and enthusiasm with others as you learn to play the guitar. Teaching them to play will also help you to learn more and boost your skills!
