For three years I tried to learn guitar-playing, and found a few methods of how to get lessons by video. At first, there was the DVD set titled "Simply Guitar" that my husband purchased for me.The DVD was very helpful for me since I can adjust camera angles for best viewing when I was trying to play the guitar.Looking at the video while strumming the guitar worked very good for my lessons. Because it makes the process of forming the chords much simpler than looking at a chart alone, I was able to pick up the guitar and play several songs much more quickly.Perhaps this learning method is peculiar to me because I learn better with visuals. And I can read music so learning guitar-playing only required me to understand the techniques.

Many DVD or video lessons are available on the Internet that are appropriate to various learning paces or skill levels.For those who have enough time, the boxed DVD or video sets are usually complete and comprehensive enough for detailed home study. Many of these DVD sets also advertise that will teach the student to read music or at least guitar tablature as well as the technique of playing.Total guitar-playing greenhorns can learn best from personal lessons either from individuals or in a music school, with video lessons only a second option.

Many colleges or schools award certificates or degrees to serious guitar musicians, and credit learning lessons by video. I this way, a more personalized instruction can be given a student by the instructor when difficulties arise. However, this method is the most economically costly since it involves instructors and coursework.
